Knoxville's yards face a real problem: red clay slopes that wash out in every rainstorm, hardwood shade that kills fescue, and Bermuda that turns tan all winter long. Artificial turf solves it, and Knoxville Turf Installation has been doing it right since 2013.
Whether you're in Old North Knoxville with a Victorian wraparound porch and a shaded side yard, in Bearden with a brick ranch and a sloped lot behind a block wall, or in a new Hardin Valley subdivision where the builder left you red clay and no lawn, we know your neighborhood. We install artificial grass for backyards, pet areas, putting greens, pool surrounds, and patios all over Knoxville and the surrounding areas. We write down what we're installing (turf product, face weight, pile height, infill type, base depth), we show up on time, and we leave your property clean.
Artificial Grass Installation in Knoxville (37916)
Knoxville's terrain is beautiful and brutal on a lawn. The city climbs the ridges along the Tennessee River, with the Great Smoky Mountains on the southern skyline. That means hilly lots, sloped backyards, block retaining walls, and dense red clay over limestone and shale that sheds water on slopes and pools in low spots. Add white oaks, tulip poplars, red maples, and eastern hemlocks overhead, and you get deep shade where fescue thins out. Add hot, humid summers with pop-up thunderstorms, and you get erosion on the slopes and bare patches where the turf washes away.
Real grass works in open sun and good drainage. Artificial turf works in shade, on slopes, in yards where dogs dig and play year-round, around pools and patios, and anywhere you want a clean, dry surface that doesn't need mowing or fertilizing. We handle the base prep ourselves (grading, compaction, and drainage), we position the rolls and seams carefully so water flows away from your house, and we infill with the product that matches your yard and your budget. We've installed turf in Sequoyah Hills, Fountain City, South Knoxville, Holston Hills, Halls, West Knoxville, and Farragut. We know the neighborhoods, the soil, and the summer heat. We've been doing this since 2013.

How a Job Works in Knoxville
We start with a free on-site assessment. You tell us what you want the turf for (a pet area, a play zone, a putting green, or just a clean backyard), we measure the space, we look at the drainage and the slope, and we talk about turf products, infill, and cost. If you're planning front-yard turf in a neighborhood with HOA rules, we discuss the color, pile height, and edging before we commit. We'll help you prepare any HOA submittal, but we never promise approval. That's between you and your HOA.
On installation day, our team removes the old lawn or turf if that's what's there (we handle the haul-away). We grade and compact the base, position the rolls, seam and secure the turf, and infill it. If your lot is tight (a narrow side yard, a back corner with limited access), we plan ahead so our rolls and equipment fit. If your yard has a water problem, we fix the drainage first or we walk away. We won't lay turf on a wet lot and leave you with a mess.
We clean up when we're done. You walk the finished job with us, and we answer any questions about care and maintenance. Then we're out of your way.
Pricing for artificial grass in Knoxville starts at $8 per square foot for residential turf and sports turf, $10 per square foot for pet turf and playground turf, $9 per square foot for pool surrounds and patios, and $15 per square foot for putting greens. A 400 square foot backyard (a typical small to medium space) runs roughly $3,200 to $3,600 for residential turf with a solid base and standard infill. A 1,000 square foot yard (a larger backyard or a front-and-back combination) runs roughly $8,000 to $9,000. Pet turf costs more because it needs a firmer base and a coarser infill to handle urine and drainage. Removal of an old lawn or failed turf starts at $2 per square foot. Repair and seam work start at $350. The actual price depends on the area, the turf product you choose (face weight and pile height), the infill type and depth, whether we're removing old turf first, and how easy access is for our rolls and base material. Call us at (865) 407-2127 for a free estimate. We'll measure your yard, discuss your needs, and give you a written quote with the turf specs and the base depth spelled out.
